USB Drivers For Nextbook7 NX700QC16G

If you went to http://www.nextbookusa.com/download.php and downloaded the "Driver" link and tried to unzip the file you will get tons of CRC errors. To fix this I had to install the Android SDK and copy files from it to what I unzipped from nextbookusa.com.

The Three Corrupt DLLs from Nextbook USA
--------------------------------------------------
WUDFUpdate_01009.dll
winusbcoinstaller2.dll
WdfCoInstaller01009.dll

If you have Windows 8, 8.1, or above

Click here to install the Nextbook (NX700QC16G) USB drivers for Windows 8 and above.

If your OS on your PC is below Windows 8, continue with the process below.

Download and Install USB Drivers

I have the driver for the Nextbook 7 (NX700QC) available for download. The previous process is no longer needed. Unless maybe this fails for you, then you can revert to the previous way of installing the drivers.

Unzip the file

Open the folder named nextbook7-NX700QC16G-usb-drivers

Double click on Install.bat

You most likely will see the following windows popup a few times.

"An unidentified program wants to access your computer"
Click Allow

"Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software "
Click "Install this driver software anyway."

It will take several minutes.

Once it's done you will see in the black window that they have successfully installed.

At this point you may need to unplug tablet if you have it plugged in, and re plug it it in.
You should see on your tablet, "USB Connected". If you'd like to view the files on the tablet
you can click "Turn on USB Storage". You can now browser your tablet in windows explorer. Or proceed with the firmware update.

You are done. No need to read any further.

OLD WAY OF DOING IT

Download the USB drivers from NextbookUSA web site.

Go to http://www.nextbookusa.com/download.php

Scroll down and the look for the section "Updates". It should be at the very bottom.

In the drop down box choose "Firmware downloads"

Scroll down to the last section called "Nextbook 7 (NX700QC16G)"

Click the big blue button that is on the right of the word "Driver"

Save the file to your Desktop or somewhere on your PC.

Unzip the USB drivers

When it finishes downloading you need to unzip the file.

I use winzip to extract archived files. Use whatever extraction tool you have. The following is for winzip but the same or similar messages below should pop up. You will just keep clicking OK, YES, CONTINUE, buttons until the extraction process is done.

While it is unzipping you will get the following or similar error messages:

"Some data in your Zip file is damaged - CRC check failed"
Click OK button

"Would you like WinZip to try to continue with the next file?
Click Yes button

"Error: Invalid compressed data to expand(inflate) the file.
Click OK button

"Error Unable to extract......."
Click OK button

Just keep clicking those buttons until the file is done unpacking.

Copy Good DLLs into the NextbookUSA driver folder(s)

If you have an intel processor do the section labeled i386 below.
If you have an AMD processor do the section labeled AMD.

i386

Download the 3 DLLs for i386 here.

Copy the 3 DLLs  to the nextbook drivers folder: Driver\SP_Drivers_v1.5\SP_Drivers_v1.5\i386

AMD

I have not tested the AMD drivers. But I'm assuming this will work. The DLLs you download below are for AMD. Please leave me a comment if this works for your AMD PC, or if it does not.

Download the 3 DLLs for AMD here

Copy the 3 DLLs to the nextbook drivers folder: Driver\SP_Drivers_v1.5\SP_Drivers_v1.5\amd64

Run The USB Driver Installer

Go to the Driver\Driver\Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00 folder and run install.bat

Note: if it looks like it's frozen after a few minutes, try hitting enter

At this point you may need to unplug tablet if you have it plugged in, and re plug it it in.
You should see on your tablet, "USB Connected". If you'd like to view the files on the tablet
you can click "Turn on USB Storage". You can now browser your tablet in windows explorer. Or proceed with the firmware update.

  1. If I plug my tablet into the USB port and the ANDROID USB Mass Storage window pops up on the tablet, and the Autoplay windows pop up on my screen, does that mean I have the USB drivers I need on my laptop, or do I need to download the drivers you have on here as well? Thank you very much for this and your other tutorial, I really hope it works, I was minutes away from returning these tablets d/t the storage issues, if I hadn't come across your posts.

    1. I think I may have figured it out myself. I had the tablet plugged in while it was on before, I just tried to plug it in while it was off and go a missing driver notice, so, I will try and get these drivers as well. I really hope this works, this is a lot more complicated than anything else I have ever tried before.

Also, when this is done, will the things that I currently have on the tablets be erased, or will all that still be there, Apps, downloaded PDF's, EPUBs, pictures? There aren't many, obviously :)

    2. Make sure you unzipped all the USB driver files from Nextbook website. Then download the 3 DLLs from this blog and replace the ones from Nextbook. Hope that's more clear. If you still have problems let me know. Maybe I should/will just pack up all the files and make the whole thing available here instead of having to go to Nextbook website. Let me know how it goes.

If you do the firmware upgrade, then YES it will wipe out the entire tablet and replace it with the new firmware. All apps, music, pics, etc... that you put on it will be gone. So back it up, or just reinstall apps after upgrade is done.

    3. So it will basically be like a factory reset, just with the new firmware, got it. Thank you for all your help, I'm going to try and do the drivers now, 2 Gb firmware update is finally done!

  2. This still isn't working for me. I don't have a SP_Drivers_v1.5\SP_Drivers_v1.5\i386\install.bat. I have a Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\Install.bat. Does it make a difference that I have an amd processor? Or does it matter that I tried installing the drivers without noticing the errors? Also when unzipping I don't get CRC errors for the files you mentioned I get them in the following

    Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00.rar
    SP_Drivers_v1.5.rar
    Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x64\Unsigned infs\amd64\WUDFUpdate_01009.dll
    Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x64\Unsigned infs\amd64\winusbcoinstaller2.dll
    Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x64\Unsigned infs\amd64\WdfCoInstaller01009.dll

    Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x86\Unsigned infs\i386\WUDFUpdate_01009.dll
    Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x86\Unsigned infs\i386\winusbcoinstaller2.dll
    Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x86\Unsigned infs\i386\WdfCoInstaller01009.dll
    SP_Drivers_v1.5\SP_Drivers_v1.5\amd64\WUDFUpdate_01009.dll
    SP_Drivers_v1.5\SP_Drivers_v1.5\amd64\winusbcoinstaller2.dll

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    1. My problem was the cable. I can only assume it was defective as it worked with a different usb cable. Your instructions were wonderful and helped overcome the crummy tools provided by Nextbook

      Delete
    2. Ahhh. Yes. AMD may be the reason. I'll look into it. You don't have that folder? Wonder if they changed the driver package. I'll look into that too.

    3. Glad its working for you and I could help. Yeah I do remember reading something about trying a different cable. Think I'll add a troubleshooting section here and put that in it.

    4. Yes. Sorry!!

SP_Drivers_v1.5\SP_Drivers_v1.5\i386\install.bat is incorrect. I've updated this entire post to include AMD. I didn't test it since I don't have AMD, but I assume this will work. If anyone using AMD finds this to work or NOT work, let me know.

  4. First, thank you for helping us lost souls, lol. I have tried both methods, using nextbooks drivers and replacing the dll files with the ones you provide, as well as your updated method with the new driver zip you provide. With both methods, the system 32 cmnd window opens and reads: Dirver Installer v1.0, Do Not support Win NT earlier version, Press any key to continue..... When I press a key, the window disappears, and thats the end of it. I don't know if the proper drivers installed. With the tablet on, I can access it's files by turning on USB Storage. However, I am not able to get a progress bar on the flash tool while trying to update the firmware, so I'm thinking that the drivers are not installed. What are your thoughts? I'm on Windows 8.1 with an AMD processor, and I have tried two different cables to try to engage the flash tool. Thanks

    1. If you are able to access the the files one the tablet, then I'm pretty sure they are installed.

Where on your PC did you plug it in? It wouldn't work for me when I used the USB ports on the front of my PC. It worked as soon as I plug it in the back of the PC.

Also, I just had a thought...I had developer options enabled on the tablet. Dang, that might be a step I left out!!

To enable developer options, go to settings. Scoll to bottom and tap "About Tablet". See " Build number ". Tap it 5 or more times till you see a message saying you are a developer. Go back to main page of settings and find " {} Developer Options". In upper right corner tap the switch. Tap "OK". Then check " USB debugging".

Let me know it that helped and I will update the instructions.

    2. Well, unfortunately, that didn't do the trick. I'm using laptop, so I don't have front and rear usb ports, but I have tried them all. I was looking at other forums and saw mention that the driver update may not work on windows 8, only windows 7 and lower. If that's true, this has to be the first time I have ever heard of having a computer that was too NEW to do the job! Lol. It's usually that the computer is too old. I'm going to see if I can borrow an older computer and see if I can get it to work. I did notice that when I plug in the tablet, the computer chimes as you'd expect when attaching a new usb device, but about 15 seconds later, it makes the chime you'd associate with disconnecting a usb device, which would suggest it disconnected, but yet I can still access the tablet (when it's on) in windows explorer. ??? Weird. If you have any other thoughts, let me know. Thanks for trying to help.

    3. The USB drivers won't work on windows 8 or the firmware update won't work?

The DLLs I put up are the most recent from android Dev kit. I would assume the Dev kit stuff supports win8. Where as the flash tool might not.

That sucks man. Keep me posted on your progress so I can make others aware of the win 8 prob. Good luck!

    4. Greg, not sure if you figured this out yet, but include MTK in your search. There is a lot about win 8 and mtk on google search. This tablet is mtk.

    5. Specifically MediaTek MTK MT8127

    6. Thanks, I'll try that. What I read said that the Mediatek Driver Install.bat file doesn't work with windows 8. I don't know if thats true or not, but not having the driver installed is the only explaination I can come up with for the flash tool not connecting. I'll update you if I figure anything else out. Thanks for the help!

    7. Install.bat is to easy of a fix. I could code it and get it to work on win8. Has to be something else.

    8. Success! I took your advice and searched mtk and win 8 and found this site: http://thebroodle.com/android/install-mediatek-mt65xx-usb-vcom-drivers-windows-8-8-1/
Followed his instruction on how to disable digital driver signature verification in win 8.1. Then followed his instructions to manually install the drivers found here: http://thebroodle.com/microsoft/windows/how-to-install-mtk65xx-preloader-usb-vcom-drivers-in-windows/

      To summarize:
in device manager, right click on comp name,
      click add legacy hardware
select manually select from a list
highlight show all devices and click next
      click have disk
then I browsed to the driver folder I downloaded from nextbookusa (which I had supplemented with the AMD dll files per your instructions in the "old way" instructions)
went to driver/SP_Drivers_v1.5/SP_Drivers_v1.5 and clicked on the android_winusb inf file
Once opened, on the left panel there was listings for MT compliant, google, and MediaTek
Clicked on MediaTek and 4 vcom ports show up in the right panel
I didn't know which one I needed, so installed all 4 (one at a time)

I clicked the scary "install anyway" when prompted they were not signed. I was prompted they were installed, but might not work right, but this was probably because the tablet wasn't currently plugged into the computer. From here I ran the flash tool per your instructions and it immediately connected and installed the new firmware. I forgot to disable Avast! but it didn't affect it. Storage partition problem solved! Thanks for all your help, and hopefully this extra info will help others with windows 8. Thanks again!

P.S. The digital signature thing was key for me since I am running windows 8.1. When I upgraded I did everything in the signature free session. Don't know if that matters????

    2. After the update it will take several minutes for the tablet to boot.

If it never loads, the update may have failed. I never encountered a failure, so I'm not exactly sure what to do. The tablet could be bricked.

You might try applying the update again. I'm not guaranteeing that will fix your problem.

You could also contact nextbook support since it is their firmware upgrade files. As last resort you could just return it. I'm sure tons of people are returning these tablets and not even bother trying to fix it.

    1. Good idea. I wish I returned mine while I still could. Even if you fix it with the firmware upgrad, you will have trouble down the road with charging and the micro USB port. This may be why some fail at the upgrade.

In the end. Yoy get what you pay for. NextbookUSA should be sued!

  15. How can I tell if the driver works when my tablet is plugged in while off? It works perfectly fine when it's on, but the progress bar won't load in the Flash Tool so I feel that the driver isn't working. I've tried the drivers provided by the NextBookUSA site, and the ones provided here with no success

    1. You should see a big battery on the screen indicating its charging. You may have to enable developer mode. Also try different USB port or jiggle the cable where it goes into the tablet. I'm finding that the USB input port on the tables go lose.

    2. I've tried it without Dev mode on with no results, and tried Dev mode on with and without Debugging on and still the Flash Tool will not load at all. I read in another article about connecting while on, then turning it off, but still nothing with all the previous 3 things I mentioned

    3. When I connect it to the PC, sometimes it'll have that hazard symbol on the Device Manager, yet it'll still say it has a driver

    4. I loaded up Windows Update and installed like 21 updates onto the PC (my aunt's PC) then all of a sudden it seemed to finally load in the Flash Tool. Currently waiting for the tablet to turn on and start the process. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up because the 1st time I noticed the bar was loading was after I removed it from the USB and noticed a message saying it failed, then I plugged it back in and the bar loaded successfully. I'll post whether it goes on or bricked, either way, I'm happy it actually loaded after 5 hrs of work lol

      Delete
    5. Worked perfectly :D The bar now shows 13 GBs free and it's so amazing to look at compared to when I only had 100 MB left after Facebook took up so much data. I recommend adding in something about Windows Update so people know to try using that if the drivers don't work right. Thanks for the guide friend

  17. Hey TIm, I followed your process with the Nextbook 7 almost a year ago, and it worked great, unfortunately my son stepped on his tablet last month and broke the screen, I did have the protection plan on it and got my money back. Walmart had the nextbook 8 (actually 7.85) on sale, so I decided to get that one, and lo and behold, it has the same memory issues. My question is, will these replacement dll files work with the Nextbook 8 drivers? I got the same failed CRC errors when I unpacked the zip file. This is a wonderful company!

Again, thanks for your help and expertise!

    1. Hey Josh. One of my nextbook 7 screens broke as well. And I didn't have the protection plan. It would cost almost as much to fix it as the tablet.

I'm not positive, but the above drivers should work with nextbook 8. If that doesn't work you could try the Windows 8 instructions. Link is above. You should be doing that anyways if you have Windows 8.

I'm really surprised that those morons at Nextbook haven't fixed their usb driver download and firmware update. They should have done an entire recall.
